FAQ

Do we need a passport or ETA for Northern Ireland private tours?

There is no passport control between Ireland and Northern Ireland. However, we strongly recommend bringing your passport or ID with you, just in case authorities request proof of identity.

Many visitors need a UK ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) to enter Northern Ireland, and some nationalities need a visa instead. Every traveller needs their own, including children. You apply online through the official UK government website, and you must wait for your confirmation email before you travel.

You do not need an ETA if you are a British or Irish citizen. If you live in Ireland and are travelling from Ireland, you may not need one either, but anyone aged 16 or over must carry proof that they live in Ireland. What applies to you depends on your nationality, so check the UK government ETA page and who does not need an ETA before you travel.
